Candy, Candy, Candy

Since I was talking about candy, I thought I would throw in a dress up photo. I also posted a Flashback Friday post, that includes a couple dress up photos, click here to see.

Candy, is something we do not have much of around this house. I am not complaining, It is kind of nice not to have all that tempting stuff around me. We have our usual stash of dum dum suckers, and smarties, and we are good to go.

Today I decided to breakdown and buy some skittles, thought they might come in handy as a potty training treat. I also broke down and ordered some chocolate, from Vermont Nut Free company. I figured, since we were having the Halloween festivities at our house, I might want to have a few special things on hand.

Anybody ever use Junior Mints with their PA and TNA child? I saw them listed somewhere as tree nut and peanut free. I'd love to hear from you if you have had them. I would also love to hear what kind of candy you keep to pass out to the kids.
To me this is a scary time, we did not know last year my son had this allergy. This is our first year to deal with all the holiday festivities nut free.

  1. Hi there, thanks for visiting my blog. I visited your Not Me as well. Thank you for starting this blog about your nut free struggles. There are alot of other parents out there that would benefit from knowing that they aren't alone in their struggles. I myself have a peanut allergy, though it is not as sever as alot of kids out there. I just get swollen lips and face from eating a few peanutbutter cookies....but still. I can eat a few peanut m&m's without a problem, but I know that there are many that can't do such a thing.

I was just thinking about how teachers in school just aren't very compassionate about kids with nut allergies. I was a teacher before I had babies. There were teachers in the lounge that would roll their eyes when a parent would mention that their kid couldn't have a certain snack, etc. Teachers that would laugh and roll their eyes during epipen training. ugh.

Anyways, I am just so glad that your blog is here. I hope that you can find a good halloween treat to share with your darling. Licorice maybe? I don't know if it's nut free or not?

  2. We also keep skittles around -- and Swedish Fish and Yummy Earth lollipops too. I read somewhere recently that some Dum Dums may contain milk (which I didn't know before) - so tread carefully there if your child or guests also have dairy allergies. Happy Halloween! (Love the picture!)
